Uninhibited has de-stigmatised menstrual, sexual and reproductive health for 200,000+ marginalised menstruators in 10 states across India. We’ve seen menstruators seek healthcare and support, reclaim spaces at school, workplaces and communities, eventually leading to reduced gender inequity and better health and wellbeing. Support our journey to reach 2.5 million menstruators, men and boys by 2025.
Co-founded by Dilip Kumar Pattubala & Sahana P Bhat with a vision to make menstruation a non-issue. We started out solely as a period product distributor, selling pads at scale, until we noticed that we were only reaching marginalised menstruators who were already using sanitary pads.
Recruited our first five field team members who came from similarly marginalised backgrounds and conducted mass MHH awareness rallies to amplify period product adoption.
Identified the need to create safe spaces and enable conversations to normalise menstruation, founding PeriodShala.
While PeriodShala was an effective behaviour change programme - we acknowledged that we would not be able to reach all menstruators in India as the model could not viably be replicated at scale.
Launched The Period Fellowship to nurture high potential talent to lead the MHH ecosystem. Period Fellows were placed across 7 states in India, impacting +40,000 menstruators over 15 months.
Founded the Period Lab to test and build innovative evidence-based approaches to uninhibiting menstruators. Began testing a revised PeriodShala programme that included men and adolescent boys, and launched the PeriodPreneur programme to accelerate other MHH organisations in the ecosystem.
In response to COVID-19, launched Aarogya Saathi a free menstrual, sexual and reproductive telehealth helpline to sustain and scale access to healthcare during the pandemic.
Impacted +200,000 menstruators, men and boys through PeriodShala, Aarogya Saathi, The Period Fellowship and PeriodPreneur programmes. Recognised as Uninhibited, in partnership with Gramin Vikas Samiti.
